9/30 Meeting Minutes

ASU Art Education Club

The ASU Art Education Club held their first official meeting for FA09 on 09/30/09. Meeting began at 12:30pm.

In attendance were 4 members of the presidency, 7 club members and 1 faculty advisor.

October First Friday-A few club members will be meeting together to take the light rail down to Phoenix First Fridays for fun. If you’re interested in going email jessicahickey5@gmail.com for info.

Fundraising-The club is going to try and raise funds for future activities. These include club BBQs and mixers, guest speakers, NAEA membership and attending the NAEA conference in Baltimore next Spring.

The first fundraiser will be held Wednesday 10/28/09 at ASU. We will be having a bake sale outside the art building. There was a sign in sheet passed around to sign up to work the table or bring baked goods. If you’re able to help but didn’t sign up please let us know at the next meeting!

The second fundraiser will be held Friday 11/06/09 in Phoenix. We are working now to secure a location for a table at First Fridays. We will be selling baked goods and club members will also be welcome to sell their own art. The club may take a small percentage of profits.

The third fundraiser will be held Saturday 11/07/09 at ASU. The club will be selling T-shirts at the Children’s Art Workshop gallery show. The club is in the process of collecting artworks to put on the shirt, so we are still accepting artwork from CAW and at the next meeting we will take photographs to put on the blog. Once the photos are on the blog club members will have a chance to design a T-shirt and then the club may vote on the winning design. More details at the next meeting.

Juried Art Show-The ASUAE Club will be submitting a proposal for a juried art show to be held in the ASU art galleries. The club is trying to think of ideas for the show and titles, any ideas are welcome! The proposal is due 11/01/09. The club did decide we will let all Art Education majors at ASU submit to the show even if they are not in the club.

Race for the Cure-Some club members will be participating in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure on 10/11/09. It is too late to form an official team, but if you are interested in joining let us know.

Guest Speaker Idea-Dr. Young suggested that a good idea for a guest speaker would be to have a panel of advisors, faculty, etc from the Art Ed. Department and the Education department to talk about the different ways to get certified to teach.

Next Meeting-The next meeting will be held Wednesday 10/07/09, we will at that time officially begin meeting on the first Wednesday of every month.

The meeting adjourned at 1pm.

This blog is for the ASU Art Education Club. In the months to come there will be tons of posts about the cool stuff we are going to do. Like being involved in First Friday Art Walks, Children's Art Workshop, Art Galleries, holding fundraisers and going to conventions. If you are interested at all just let us know!!
